Technology and innovation

General definition of innovation
Innovation is a result of investment in development and reception of new knowledge, earlier not applied idea on updating of spheres of life of people (technologies; products; organizational forms of existence of society, such as education, management, work organization, service, science, informatization, etc.) and the subsequent process of introduction (production) of it, with fixed receipt of additional value (profit, advance, leadership, priority, radical improvement, qualitative superiority, creativity, progress).

Thus the process is necessary: investment – development – process of introduction – reception of qualitative improvement.
Innovation and other similar concepts
Innovation is viewed from different perspectives: in connection with technology, commerce, social systems, economic development, and policy formulation. Accordingly, there is a wide range of approaches to the conceptualization of innovation in the scientific literature.

When conceptualizing the concept of innovation, it is useful to compare it with other concepts. In particular, it is noted in the scientific literature that the concept of “innovation” is often confused with the concept of “invention,” denoting the creation of a new technical development or improvement of an old one. In addition, many improvements in goods and services would be more appropriately called simply the word “improvement. The concepts of “change” and “creativity” can also sometimes be used instead of “innovation.

To distinguish innovation from the concepts listed above, it is often clarified that the feature of innovation is that it creates additional value, allows the innovator to gain additional value, and is associated with implementation. In this view, an innovation is not an innovation until it has been successfully implemented and has begun to produce benefits.

The alternative approach uses other concepts as part of the definition of innovation: “Innovation occurs when someone uses an invention – or uses something that already exists in a new way – to change the way people live.” In this case, an invention can be a new concept, device, or other thing that facilitates an activity, and innovativeness is not linked to whether the organizer of the innovation received any benefit or had a positive effect.
What is “innovative technology”?
The word “innovation” is of Latin origin. “Novatio” means “renewal,” “change,” and “in” translates as “in the direction of. Literally, “innovatio” means “in the direction of change. And it is not any innovation, but after the application of which there are significant improvements in efficiency, quality of activity.

By technology (Greek techne “art”, “skill”, logos “word”, “knowledge” – the science of art) is understood the totality of methods and processes used in any case or in the production of anything.

Any innovation finds its realization through technology. Thus, innovation technology is a technique and process of creating something new or improving an existing one in order to ensure progress and increase efficiency in various spheres of human activity.
Technology and innovation
“Innovations” and “innovative technologies” – these concepts not so long ago were considered something new and alien in the lexicon of a Russian or a person living in the so-called post-Soviet space. These concepts have not yet fully formed and it is still difficult to bring some provisions to “free interpretations”. Therefore, in order not to create prerequisites for misunderstanding certain points, we have tried to convey the essence of the terms very succinctly.

The concept of “innovation” (from English innovation – innovation) is currently fixed in the Russian law as “the final result of innovative activity, expressed in the form of a new or improved product distributed in the market, new or improved technological process, used in practical activities”. The purpose of innovation is to obtain economic, environmental, social or other types of effect.

Activity, which consists of a complex of scientific, financial, technological and other activities for creation, development, distribution of innovation and aimed at using the results of these activities in order to increase the competitiveness of a certain type of business, is called innovative activity.
The role of innovation in the economy has increased significantly. Modern production must be automated and equipped with software that enables them to be competitive. The creation of competitive products characterized by novelty and high scientific content is impossible without the use of innovations. They become an effective means in the competitive struggle, entailing the creation of new technologies.
Technology (from Greek – art, skill, ability, etc. – Greek – thought, reason; methodology, mode of production) is an organizational measures and techniques in a complex, aimed at manufacturing or operating the product, taking into account the current level of development of science, technology and society in general.

Innovation technology is a complex of methods and means aimed at supporting the stages of implementation of a particular innovation. There are the following types of innovative technologies: training, implementation, consulting, engineering and transfer. With the development of new technologies and as a result of innovative activities of companies, innovative products are created, which can be in a specific tangible or other form.
